Our guests invariably ask us, “Where do you recommend for dinner”? Fortunately, there are some fantastic places to eat in Kerikeri. The Far North’s subtropical climate and pristine coastline provide a veritable treasure trove of fresh ingredients for the region’s chefs and winemakers to create a unique array of gastronomic delights.

Within a 10-minute drive of Pāteke Lodge, you will find everything from superb fine dining, and excellent Italian, Indian, Thai and Middle Eastern cuisine, to delicious cafes and coffees. The following eateries are our guests’, and our own personal favourites, listed loosely from formal to less formal. We know you’ll find one or three that you’ll love too!

Māha Restaurant – will please those with Epicurean tastes. Formally plated, pan-Asian food with a local flavour. Located in a beautiful subtropical garden with indoor and outdoor seating options.

The Plough and Feather Taproom & KItchen – an English-style gastro-pub showcasing local craft beer and wine with both a formal indoor restaurant and garden bar for less formal al fresco dining. Located next to the Stone Store and the estuary – an absolutely beautiful spot.

Marsden Estate Winery & Restaurant – not only has a cellar door but also a wonderful restaurant (breakfast, lunch and platters only). Located in a picturesque vineyard setting.

Charlotte’s Kitchen – (a little further away in Paihia, but we love it so we’re including it!) has excellent seafood dishes and their signature free-range pork knuckle is to die for! Located on the pier with magnificent views across the Bay of Islands.

The Black Olive – a wide variety of tasty mains, and an excellent pizza menu. Most can be ordered to take away as well.

Sovrano Estate – a ristorante featuring traditional Italian food and wine from grapes grown on-site! Excellent pasta dishes and they also make excellent limoncello.

Chang Siam – has a delicious range of Thai staples. The Mussaman Curry is truly divine! Dine in or takeaway.

Turmeric Indian Restaurant – has some of the best Indian food we’ve ever eaten in NZ. If you enjoy lamb try the Rogan Josh you won’t regret it. Dine in or takeaway.

Cafe Jerusalem – Israeli food that is authentic, fresh and flavoursome. Get the mezze platter for a taste of everything. Dine in or takeaway.

Burger Fiasco – Kerikeri’s gourmet burger joint. Can’t decide between a beef or chicken burger? Then order the IDK Burger – it’s both! Dine in or takeaway.

Istanbul Kebabs – Turkish food done well, with all the standards, and the falafel is delicious. Dine in or takeaway.

SuperBowl – makes healthful bowls perfect for lunch, or grab one to take away for an early dinner. Dine in or takeaway.

CC’s Cafe Cinema – our favourite local brunch spot, with fresh food and super friendly service.

The Old Packhouse Cafe – is part of the market of the same name but is open all week. A patisserie with great cabinet food and Kerikeri’s best pies. You must try their cheese scones and locally roasted Max coffee.

Additionally, Pāteke Lodge is located at the heart of Northland’s wine trail, making us the ideal place to stay when exploring the region’s vineyards and restaurants. Explore our multi-room deals and team up with some friends for your next gastronomic journey.
